THE REDICULOUS XENOPHONBIC ATTACKS
For the past month the news bulletins have been showering us with breaking news about the brutality, animosity and physical attacks that have been spreading throughout the entire country.
One morning as I was doing my usual routines, getting ready to go to class, I tuned in to my favourite radio station to listen the breakfast show, then the news broke through,” it has been reported that foreigners living the Alexandra township just outside joburg have been attacked by South African citizens crying out that these foreigners are stealing their jobs and opportunities” said the news reader. At that point in time I thought to myself that this is utter rubbish! The jobs we are accusing them of “taking” are the very same jobs they created themselves, so were does the stealing our jobs part fit in? I wonder!
Okay, let us remind ourselves why in the first place (particularly Zimbabwean people) are here. They came here because of their “you know who” president is misleading, mistreating them importing weapons of mass distraction and commanding and his followers to shoot anyone who does not agree with his side of the law. They came here hoping that South Africa would be a better utopia and a place of refuge for them.
Over the past years we have accepted that they are here and here to stay. We have actually made piece with the situation. And now all of a sudden we want them to pack their bags and go? After they build businesses, created new lives for themselves, they must drop everything on the spot, everything they worked hard for and just leave. What a total inconvenience
As a young black person, I feel terribly ashamed of even calling myself a South African at this moment. How does the rest of the world view South Africa as? As a nation filled with a bunch prejudice, violent and a lot of hatred for our brothers and sisters. And this is doing more damage for the S.A. citizens that are foreigners in other countries. As the youth of mzansi let us not support and encourage these attacks because they are just REDICULOUS.
Yeah! just REDICULOUS
